Trying to Cope When Jobless Benefits Run Out

One of the government's way to help people during the economic crisis has been the extension of unemployment benefits, but even with the recession getting worse those extensions are running out, causing "economic stress". By coping, individuals are selling their car, or going into their retirement savings. Some people are saying that the unemployment benefits are not enough to pay the bills. laid off workers receive on average about 300 dollars a week but it helps them get by. Unemployment benefits last a while before running out. Unfortunately Not everyone qualifies for the maximum amount.  Each state has a formula that calculates how many weeks of benefits an unemployed worker is entitled to, based in part on the state’s unemployment rate and an individual’s work history and earnings and for those who work part-time may not qualify for benefits. I chose this article because it shows that government is trying to help those who are desperately in need. I'm for the government helping the people but I don't like how the benefits run out. I do think the information was presented fairly, it tells you about the good that comes out of it and how sometimes it doesn't last that long, kind of letting you know that you may get money for a couple of weeks but just be prepared when you can't get anymore. Yes, I would use this news source again.
