Obama On Taliban

Obama On Taliban:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/05/05/pakistan.taliban/index.html

This article is subjected on the Pakistani forces continuing their assault on Taliban. Obama flew to the nations capital to discuss this matter and figuring out a strategy against the militant group. These assaults continued for an estimate of about two weeks. And with this ongoing, there has been attempts on trying to stop this from going on because Army generals claim to have killed scores of militants. Attempts have led to putting a ban on motorcycles in the northwest end of Pakistan. Pakistan has also asked the U.S. to provide them with technology such as nightvision, helicopters and communication equipment. This has very well put an increase on gloibal security from other countries. Obama wants to put national securities in making sure Pakistan is stable. Pakistan has also already recieved more then $10 billion dollars in U.S. aide over the last decade.

I chose this article beacuse it deals with involvement with other countries. I dont really want to agree with this article because i dont see why we cant be an independent country and provide for our ownselves. I dont believe Obama should have to deal with other countries because of fear of future situations. I feel at times the U.S. is being used because we have more to offer then other countries. I feel that if we put to much trust into these other countries they will turn around and do something horrible to our country out of pure jealousy. Once they get what they want-its over!....I would continue to use this article but not beacuse its good but i would use so people would contemplate on whether or not we should be involved with other countries.

  1. Pepper, You're absolutely right -- when we get involved with other countries, it costs American taxpayers a lot of money. And I also agree that Americans should "contemplate" (great choice of word) whether we want to get involved in other countries. Don't forget, though, that when the Taliban was in charge of Afghanistan it helped Al Qaeda plan 9/11. Also, I would have liked more of a connection to the economy, as well as your assessment of the source.
