Florida bridge slammed as waste of stimulus

http://money.cnn.com/2009/05/05/news/economy/stimulus_florida/index.htm?postversion=2009050504

This article is about what the most expensive item on Florida's list of economic stimulus projects is drawing fire from some residents and at least one public official, all questioning whether it's needed at all. The proposed $128 million Indian Street Bridge across the St. Lucie River has been debated in Martin County, Florida, for more than 20 years. But now that it has been cleared to receive money from the federal government's nearly $800 billion economic stimulus effort, the debate may be over. I choose this article because it was about the stimulus plan. Im not sure I understand the article competely but, from what i get is if they continue to build the bridge, it would help out alot. Supporters say the new bridge will ease traffic congestion, aid hurricane evacuations and create about 3,500 jobs. From what i get yes, i think the information has been presented fairly. Yes, I would use CNN again. Its very useful.

  1. Nyasia, nice job! You summarized both sides well and I agree with you that it's fair. I wonder what makes it newsworthy, though. The article doesn't say why they're covering it at all. It might make sense in Florida, but why national media like CNN? What do you think?
